I haven't deleted my old releases. They're still there, and I'd love for you to listen to them if you never have. However, Ten Dog Team marks a huge step forward in terms of my technical skills--as a synthesist, as a performer, and as a producer. Comparing Ten Dog Team to, for example, Customized Forgiveness Machine off of Surfaces Do Matter, it's clear that there is a new boldness, a new confidence, and a new musical vocabulary that I simply lacked before.

Back then I didn't know enough to know how much I didn't know, and I feel that gave the music a charming simplicity. Now I know enough to know just how ignorant I still am, just how much work lays ahead of me to get my music where I want it to be. But listen! Ten Dog Team is *striving* toward something. Not there yet, but on the move! Hustling, presto, allegro, no more sleepy andante ambience.

That's what Ten Dog Team is about, to me. Momentum. Energy. And it's true that as I'm releasing it, it already sounds like old-school hoyer.hoppes() to my ear. It already sounds a bit slow, a bit quaint. I mixed it two weeks ago! I haven't slowed down since then.
